Hi everyone,

I recently ran into an issue where multi-user access stopped working properly in QuickBooks Desktop, and I found out that the core reason was that QuickBooks Hosting Mode is Off on our host server/workstation.

When hosting mode is turned off, other workstations in the network cannot establish a connection to the company file, leading to communication errors and multi-user hosting conflicts.

To resolve this, you usually need to verify your hosting settings:

Open QuickBooks on the computer hosting the file.

Go to File > Utilities.

Ensure it shows Stop Hosting Multi-User Access (which means hosting is currently active). If it says Host Multi-User Access, click it to turn hosting back on.

If you are frequently facing QuickBooks multi user access errors , feel free to check out this step-by-step troubleshooting guide.

Has anyone else faced this problem recently? What steps worked best for your setup?
