How the Fate of the Vaal League Works in Path of Exile 2



Like previous Path of Exile leagues, Fate of the Vaal introduces a mechanic you'll encounter right after leaving Clearfell Encampment. As you progress into Path of Exile 2 Currency the first area, you'll notice a circular seal containing five Soul Cores.



How to Charge the Soul Cores



Slaying enemies powers one core at a time.

Once a core is filled, it stays filled permanently.

Traveling to the next zone retains your progress.

After all five are fully charged, the portal forms and the Ruins become accessible.



This process is similar to how early PoE leagues such as Abyss introduced progressive objectives, but the Fate of the Vaal system is far more expansive and customizable.



Vaal Ruins: A Build-Your-Own Temple Dungeon



Once opened, the portal leads into the Vaal Ruins, the heart of the Fate of the Vaal League.



How the Vaal Ruins Work



Inside the Ruins, you'll find a Temple Console featuring:



A partial map of the Vaal Temple

Open nodes representing rooms

Pathway slots to link your rooms

A designated chamber belonging to Atziri, the pinnacle encounter



Each time you begin a temple run, you'll be offered a selection of room nodes to place anywhere on the map as long as they are connected to a path. After you finalize your layout, press "Run Temple" to explore and clear the rooms you set.
