The Toyota Hilux was later repackaged as the Toyota Pickup or just Toyota Truck after 1976 to suit the American market, and has continued to become the Tacoma in 1995 to fit the American market better. This change prevented naming it with exotic name, yet it rode on the rich durability heritage of the Toyota Hilux which is now reflected in the Tacoma line of daily SR to off-road TRD Pro trims ruling the midsize sales.
